While they are an everyday nuisance, they are also <g id="gid_0">vectors of</g> potentially dangerous <g id="gid_0">viruses</g> such as <g id="gid_1">West Nile</g>, <g id="gid_2">Dengue</g> and <g id="gid_3">Chikungunya</g>, which have already been documented in Italy as well.
<g id="gid_4">Arboviruses</g> (i.e., viral diseases transmitted by arthropods, in this case mosquitoes) are becoming increasingly common even in temperate areas such as ours, due to climate change, globalization and international travel. Health institutions reiterate that prevention is the most effective strategy to limit their spread.

What viruses do mosquitoes transmit?

West Nile Virus: the common mosquito (Culex pipiens), becomes infected by biting birds carrying the virus, then transmits it to humans or other mammals. Symptoms occur 2-15 days after the bite (about 6 on average). In most cases, the infection is <g id="gid_3">asymptomatic</g> or causes mild complaints such as fever, headache and fatigue. However, it can cause complications in frail individuals.

Dengue: Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus (tiger mosquito) mosquitoes transmit Dengue after becoming infected by biting a sick person. The incubation period ranges from <g id="gid_3">3 to 14 days</g>, <g id="gid_4">most frequently between 4 and 7</g>. The disease manifests itself with <g id="gid_5">fever</g>, <g id="gid_6">muscle aches</g> and, in some cases, rashes. In most cases, the course resolves in about two weeks.

Chikungunya: also carried by the tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus), it causes sudden , very high fever accompanied by severe joint pain. Symptoms occur over a period of<g id="gid_4"> 1 to 12 days</g>, <g id="gid_5">usually between 3 and 7</g>. While rarely fatal, Chikungunya can impair quality of life for weeks or months, especially in adults, due to persistent joint pain.

In all cases, transmission occurs exclusively through the bite of infected mosquitoes.

Prevention methods

Stopping the proliferation of mosquitoes means interrupting the transmission of viruses. Females lay eggs in stagnant water, often found in manholes, storm drains or containers left outdoors. Larvae develop from these eggs, and within days new adult insects appear, ready to sting.
This is why <g id="gid_1">localized larvicidal interventions in manholes are now among the most effective preventive actions to prevent virus transmission</g>. This is precisely where MosKyp® comes in, a practical, environmentally friendly and long-lasting solution that automates larvicidal prophylaxis.

How MosKyp® contributes to the prevention of arbovirosis

MosKyp® devices are designed to automatically treat standing water in urban storm drains, drastically reducing the chance of development of mosquito larvae, the main culprits responsible for the spread of viruses.

Why is it effective against viruses such as West Nile, Dengue and Chikungunya?

Because it eliminates larvae before they become adults and potentially infected, breaking the chain of transmission at the root.

How does MosKyp® work?

The device releases a small amount of Mosquitorex®, a plant-based, biodegradable larvicide that creates a film on the water. This film:

Prevents larvae and pupae from breathing

Hinders egg laying by adult mosquitoes

MosKyp® does not use batteries or electricity, but uses the temperature variation between day and night to trigger the release of liquid in an intelligent and calibrated way, without the need to repeat the treatment after rains.

Conclusion

Countering viruses such as West Nile, Dengue and Chikungunya means preventing mosquito breeding. Thanks to MosKyp®, it is possible to automate larvicidal treatment in a simple, durable and sustainable way. An innovative solution designed to act before the problem occurs.

Buy MosKyp Classic: prevention starts in manholes.

West Nile, Dengue and Chikungunya: useful information During warm weather, there is no shortage of opportunities for contact with mosquitoes.
